I’m just a normal guy who made the bad decision to start smoking at a young age. I smoked cigarettes for over 15 years. If I can quit smoking, you can too. You don’t need crutches like nicotine gum or anything else. You can and should do it all at once!
First of all, if you want to quit smoking, you have to WANT to quit smoking … If you don’t want to quit smoking, you won’t be successful. Quitting smoking is possibly the best thing you can do for yourself. The benefits of quitting are astronomical.
Your health will improve tremendously, you’ll save a ton of money, and the food tastes so much better.
The most important thing to remember and I cannot stress this enough is that you must be ready. You have to rise to the challenge. You are in control, not the cigarettes. My plan was simple and I didn’t want to smoke anymore. He had a family he wanted to be with. When I thought about it a bit, it seemed almost silly to be paying so much to undermine your life. It is important to have the right mindset. I have already told you that you have to be prepared but you must convince yourself that you are going to outgrow cigarettes. You have to be positive and know that you are in control. Take it every day as the first. When you wake up, be positive. When you haven’t smoked a cigarette for four days, it wouldn’t make any sense to ruin those four days and start over, after four days the worst part is over and it’s all downhill. Four days without a cigarette is quite an achievement and by then the physical part of the addiction is over. Your body no longer needs nicotine. From this point on, everything is psychological.
What nobody seems to understand is that it is not that difficult. As a society we are told that Vape cigarettes are highly addictive and are one of the hardest things to put down and put down. This is the wrong way to think about it. In fact, quitting smoking is easy. It is not that difficult at all. If I had to compare it to something, I would say that it is no worse than having a common cold. Sure, you’ll be irritable and in a bad mood, but every day that you run out of a cigarette brings you one day closer to your goal of never smoking again and it really isn’t that bad. How many colds have you had? Each and every one, right? Well, you can quit smoking too!
When making the decision to quit smoking, be sure to take a few days away from the office or work. I would suggest stopping by on a Friday night and this is how I did it. I bought my last pack of cigarettes on Friday. I smoked all of them during the day, except one. This last cigarette would be my friend. It would comfort me when the desire was stronger. That night before going to bed, I lit my last cigarette knowing in my mind that I was done with them, that I was now in control. This is where that last cigarette comes into play. Instead of finishing my last cigarette, I only smoke half. I turned it off and put the half-smoked cigarette back into the empty cigarette pack. He was going to be with me for about two weeks and he was.
I carried that pack of cigarettes everywhere. When the urge to smoke was strongest, I would take out that lonely half of a cigarette and put it to my lips and pretend to smoke it. The taste of this half-burned cigarette satisfied my urges when they were at their peak. I used this method for about 8 days. On day 99, when the urge to smoke reared its ugly head, I pulled out that solitary half-burned cigarette that I had been carrying with me for the past eight days. I looked at this pathetically disgusting thing and realized that I no longer felt like putting that miserable half-smoked cigarette to my lips. It was disgusting and smelled really bad. I thought to myself, this is how cigarettes have smelled all along. From that point on, I never smoked again. That was more than ten years ago. I did it, you can too.
With the extra money I was saving, I was able to buy a new car. It was a reward for me. I also started to notice little things. The outside air seemed to smell better. Everything seemed to smell better. I also noticed that when I caught a cold, it only hit me half as long as when I had smoked. Make the decision to quit smoking because that is the hardest part.
